According to a survey, June 2018 faced an acute water crisis in the entire history. This report has surveyed a loss of two lakhs of Indians lives due to a shortage or contamination of water. India is an agricultural country and around 8% of water is being used for irrigation. Due to the scarcity of water, Indian irrigation system does not remain unaffected too. According to a report, it is estimated that around 20 Indian cities might run out of groundwater by 2020.

Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh faced a major water crisis in the month of June as reported by NITI Aayog.
