Know the Meaning of Rotational Moulding of Polyethylene Water Tanks. How is it done?

The basic raw material used to roto mold water tanks is Linear Low-Density Polyethylene(LLDPE). LLDPE has a high degree of short and long chain branching which gives molten LDPE its desirable flow properties. It is most suitable for manufacturing of water tanks. Rotomolding is one of the most popular plastic molding techniques. In this process, a measured quantity of powdered polyethylene resin is placed into the mold of the tank. The entire manufacturing process is computer controlled. After removing the mold from the oven, it has to be cooled properly. The cooling process allows the polyethylene to set and to shrink slightly in order to remove the tank from the mold. This is the most critical step in ensuring a perfect tank. After the mold has cooled enough, remove the tank. And you are ready to repeat the process to make another one.

Clean the tank properly every three to six months in case of indirect sunlight. In case of direct sunlight, cleaning should be done more often. Drain all water and give a good scrubbing to the tank. Certain chemicals like chlorine stop algae growth. It is ideal to add 4 parts of chlorine to every 1,000,000 parts of water. The water is safe to drink with this proportion. This ratio is very important and should be followed otherwise the water might become harmful.
Bleach kills algae and stops its further growth. Add 1/4 teaspoon of bleach to every gallon of water stored. The ratio again is important here otherwise it may have negative effects on the water.

Keep the place clean where the tank is placed including the top of the tank.
The tools used for tank cleaning should be disinfected with antibacterial spray or liquid bleach.
Drain the water tank completely with the help of outlet valve.
The remaining water can be scooped out using a bucket or a mug.

Make a cleaning solution for cleaning the inside of the tank. A liquid or detergent powder can be used for the same.
