4 Easy Methods To Clean A Plastic Water Tank

Cleaning a plastic water tank can be a daunting task when it is the main source of your drinking water. The water tank needs to be cleaned two times a year. 1. Drain The Whole Water
First, you need to empty the whole tank. Store water in buckets or anywhere else so that you can use it later. There will be more water left at the bottom of the tank. Drain all of the water with a bucket and use a towel or cloth to mop the left water. If you have a small tank, use a vacuum to suck the water fully.
2. Now Clean Inside Of The Tank
Take large cups of detergent powder and hot water or normal water. Make a solution of water and detergent powder and pour it in every portion. Scrub with a hard scrub pad and a bristle brush.
If your tank has thick stains of iron, you can use acid. It will help to cleanse all the stains. Engulf the acid inside every portion of the tank and close the lid for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes open the lid and scrub the walls in the same process. After acid wash, you need to do the detergent wash.
Scrub every area and corner of the tank thoroughly by moving your hands both horizontally and vertically.
3. Rinse The Tank
Once you have done scrubbing perfectly, it’s time to rinse the tank. A hosepipe is the best option to cleanse the interior walls. Wash every corner of the tank and make sure the tank is free of detergent. After the rinse, drain the water completely.
4. Disinfect The Tank
For disinfecting the tank, add chlorine bleach (for 500-liter tank, take 2 cups) in the clean water and mix up the solution. Close the lid for 24 hours. After twenty-four hours open the lid and take a read of chlorine amount with a chlorine strip. Dip the strip into the water and If there is no chlorine left repeat the previous process.
Now drain the water completely. Your tank is ready for use again!
