Rivers and lakes are the only sources of freshwater that we have on Earth. All the water that we use in our everyday life or the water we keep stored in our plastic water storage tank mostly comes from the river. So, saving them for our survival should be one of our biggest priority. The major problem is how rivers are becoming dry and how they are becoming polluted more and more. But, it’s not always up to the government or an NGO to conserve river water. Sometimes, small steps taken by individuals can turn out to be beneficial in the long turn. So, this World Rivers Day, we are giving you some tips on how to conserve river water on your own at home.
Reduce wastage of water
We tend to waste water on a daily basis without even thinking about it. Whether it is taking long showers or using the washing machine before it has even filled up, there are so many little things we can stop doing. Ultimately, if you are getting water supply from rivers, then you will stop getting supply one day. Rivers in many places have dried so much that it has become a concern. The level of underground water seems to have gone down a lot too which can rise only with a lot of rain. So, it is your duty to reduce the usage of water as much as possible. So, reduce your daily showering time. Also, it is better to use a bucket rather than showering. Wait for your washing machine to be full before you wash them. Turn off your taps at home when you are not using it, especially while soaping your dishes or brushing.
Use river-friendly products
Using biodegradable products is the best way to conserve water. Apart from wasting water polluting the water is also killing the river water. If you throw wastes non-biodegradable products in the river it ends up polluting the river. Even if you don’t throw it in the river yourself, it ends up in the river ultimately. So, do not flush trash like diapers, wet wipes, etc. which can end up in the local streams, other water bodies and rivers eventually.
So, this World Rivers Day, become a bit more conscious of how you are using water and take an active part in saving river water. Use the right kind of products to store water like a plastic water storage tank that will keep your water fresh and clean for a long time and it won’t go to waste.
